Just like that, another turn around the sun is complete. 2025 was a quieter year for Mattrbld after the big migration to Vite and the open source launch last year. That doesn’t mean nothing happened, however.

In 2025, there were four major feature releases consisting mostly of quality of life features with some smaller bug fixes sprinkled in between. Some of these improvements are based on suggestions from the community, so thank you for that! Here are some highlights.

Release Highlights

Version v1.1.0 in January introduced additional properties such as width, height and loading to be passed to images embedded through rich text fields if they are defined in the Advanced Media Library. In addition to that, the UI now reflects the fact that names don’t have to be full names better throughout the application.

Later in the year, v1.2.0 introduced visual diffs when replacing images and persistent sorting options for file lists, which I’ve now set to always sort by newest file first instead of alphabetically, personally.

In summer, Mattrbld users gained the ability to define default names for newly created files in Collections in v1.3.0, while benefitting from crisper project and user avatars.

And the biggest update of 2025 came in October with version v1.4.0, which introduced a whole host of quality of life improvements and support for AVIF images in the Media Library. Since this update, Collections are automatically added and removed from the project sidebar, improving initial project setup.

Other Updates

While the next version is already cooking with further improvements, I unfortunately wasn’t able to dedicate as much time to the revamped Quickstart Guide as I had hoped in my previous post. As always, though, I’ll keep at it and make sure that this project can get useful to more and more people.

In this sense, happy holidays to everyone who celebrates, and a cosy and relaxing time to anyone who does not. Perhaps this is the time to finally add a headless content management system to your personal website project? 😉
